Complaints.
If you don't like the way someone is using their email address you should tell us.
However please bear in mind that anyone can send email that is said to come from any email address, and we don't have any sending out capability on this website at all. Therefore anyone sending out email from any computer actually is doing so through an ISP or similar, and not from here.
This does not mean that someone could not be misusing this stem to collect response from campaigns or other activities, and we are unaware of this unless you draw it to our attention.
If you complain it has to be about something of merit to justify us taking action, for example if you are a member of another religion and don't like witchcraft at all this would be insufficient reason to complain about a persons use, of the email service.
We are aware that some consenting adults may use this to carry on relationships, and this is not something we are going to interfere with as long as it is not used to promote new relationships or approach young people.
So what will happen if your compliant potentially has merit.
As its is so simple for people to open email accounts on the internet, that allows them to collect mail, we do not experience a problem of people routinely misusing this service. The main benefits in using our service is the ease of remembering their email address and is in the immediacy or the transfer through to their normal email rather them them having to remember to continually recheck accounts.
Users complains
There tends to be three areas that users complain about, perhaps it will help if we explain these
Junk emails - we don't have a list of the email addresses in use on line anywhere so people cannot get them from us. However if you use this email to fill in message boards and in other places they may be able to be picked up from those locations. We have only two choices to send your email on to you or to send it to a dustbin, we cannot sort it in any way.
Speed of echoing email through - emails sent to an email address and echoed through is instantaneous, we can send an email and pick it up a few seconds later having bounced it around. However these emails tend to be within the same hosting facilities and have the capacity to handle the load. some sections of the internet can be under load or their may be priorities put on servers and resources that slows down mail. sending it via a bounced address then takes longer, and this will vary by time of day and by location. We have known some emails to take a very long time to find their way from sending to it being received, even many hours. There is nothing we can do about this.
Failure to get email to AOL accounts. this is problem quite a few systems have, AOL has a system that tries to identify spam and blocks some while putting some others in a special folder. The problem is that it is imposable to do this, so the error rate is high. The reason some emails appear to go missing is that the AOL system takes into account the servers through which the email ha passed o its way to the account and with bounced email passing on a longer journey more of it perhaps is likely to pass through the same servers as spam has. the largest problem is that it is not consistent, some of us who have AOL accounts have found out of 6 emails sent at a similar place and time 3 have arrived in their normal email account, 2 in the spam box and one just failed to arrive at all. the only suggestion we have is to double bounce the emails fore you once to your AOL account and a second copy to another email box you can set up and collect email from elsewhere. this way you can occasionally look at the back up box to check for copies that have failed to make it to the primary route.
